Awaken from Artesian Tan is a new fresh scented Anti-Aging formula which was developed to give you a flawless even fading Sunless Spray Tan with benefits yet to be realized in a Sunless Tanning product.

Artesian Tan is known as a producer of excellent Sunless Tanning Solutions, products that are both skin beneficial and provide impressive consistent results.

The current beauty market is filled with a plethora of Anti Aging products. Artesion Tan set out to create a Sunless Tanner, which along with positive performance, would utilize cutting edge technologies to promote youthful healthy skin repair.

Awaken is enriched with Vitamin E, Vitamin A, and Vitamin C Liposomes that condition, and assist in minimizing skin aging free radicals, which contribute to long-term skin damage.

CoQ10 paired with Green & White Tea extracts provide well documented skin soothing antioxidant benefits. Revive delivers advanced moisturizing and skin care benefits via Phospholipid Liposome technology, in addition to inclusion of natural Aloe Vera extracts, one of the best products you can use for skin repair. Revive also includes the newest powerful Anti-Aging complex Matrixyl 3000 (Pentapeptide-3) which has been hailed as “the new Botox” without the needle.

These Anti-Aging ingredient benefits reach optimal performance with daily applications, as studies have shown.

But through their inclusion in Awaken, you will feel the skin healing benefits with the very first application.

Awaken applies like silk, goes on smooth and your skin will feel like you have just had a full body moisturizing treatment

I use what I believe is the highest quality needles or otherwise called probes in the world. They are called Ballet and they are made in France. There are three different types of needles. The most common is sterile 18/8 nickel/Stainless steel, Gold, and insulated. If you check out their website www.balletneedles.com for information you will learn all the details of these electrology needles and what makes them better. They are sized to the diameter to the hair.

The Gold Ballet Sterile needle is plated with nickel-free 24 carat gold. This type of needle is great for people that are very sensitive and the skin returns rapidly to normal even after the most delicate treatments, particularly red vein and skin tag work.

Then there is the Ballet insulated needle it is coated with a medical-grade insulation less than one micron thick. This probe is designed to smooth insertions and stands up to the longest treatments. I have tried all kinds of other brands of probes and find Ballet to be far superior and much more comfortable. The sharpness of the tip has a lot to do with a painless insertion.

Electrology is a delicate skill that takes a long time to obtain. Every person is different and every hair is different. Treating thousands of clients has exposed me to every skin condition, fragile skin, deep or shallow follicles, loose skin, tight skin and everything in-between. Plus, I went to one of the best schools in the country and all day I treated a Calf. electrologist that wanted his beard off so he would come to me correcting and pushing me to be a great electrologist. He had over 23 years experience and could get very inexpensive work done by a student. He knew I was very interested in being the best in my field so he taught me all his years of experience and “tricks of the trade” to cue him while I was there”. I am very grateful to this day for that education from that talented and kind electrologist.

Permanent makeup mimics the effects of real makeup and is often desired by patients specifically around the eye and mouth region. Also known as micropigmentation, permanent makeup is growing in popularity with women worldwide.

If you are considering permanent makeup, contact Karen to arrange a consultation with Karen who can answer all of your questions and help you achieve your cosmetic goals.

What Can Permanent Makeup Do For You?

Permanent makeup can be used to create long lasting lip color, eyeliner or eyebrows on patients. Permanent makeup is also used to repair damaged body parts—for example, it is sometimes used during breast reconstruction surgery after mastectomy to recreate the areola.

What Are the Most Common Reasons to Get Permanent Makeup?

Everyone gets micropigmentation for different reasons, but some of the more common reasons include:

To never have a need to put makeup on again

To wake up looking beautiful without time putting makeup on, and taking it off before bed

Allergies to traditional makeup

To hide scarring

To pencil in eyebrows after severe hair loss due to chemotherapy, genetics, or an illness

For those with a movement disorder or blindness, applying traditional makeup is sometimes difficult

Is Permanent Makeup Removeable?

Permanent makeup is removable, but only through high tech surgical methods. There is also a new cutting edge camouflage technique that many plastic surgeons are using to help cover up permanent makeup.

Choosing a skilled beauty professional is key to minimizing the risks of any cosmetic procedure.

A little over a month ago, I did it. I made the leap and tried laser hair removal. Before I tell you exactly what happened (trust me, I’d wished someone had told me before I did it), let me first tell you the top 3 reasons I hated every other form of hair removal I’d tried before. Let’s start with…

The Top 3 Reasons I Despise Shaving

Reason #1: The smooth results last only an hour. I have sandpaper leg hair, which means within a few hours of shaving, my legs turn into a fine grade. A couple days later and the fine grade has grown coarse.

Reason #2: Wintertime shaving. There’s nothing worse than when goosebumps develop in mid-stroke. (I have sworn for years that you can FEEL the hair grow when you get goosebumps).

Reason #3: The rashes and the nicks. It’s a rare occasion that I have a rash-free and nickless shaving experience. In fact, I’m certain it’s never happened.

After years of shaving I discovered waxing. There were many things about waxing I loved. The results leave you smooth as a baby’s butt and last a long time. But here I offer…

Three Reasons I Will Never Wax Again

Reason #1: The pain. Want to know what waxing feels like? Take a 6-inch length of packing tape and apply it to your forearm. Pat it down so every hair is firmly attached. Hold on to one end, take a deep breath and RIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIPPPPPPPPPP!!!!!!!

Reason #2: The growing out period between waxes. For waxing to work, you need longish hair for strips to adhere to. This means if you want to wear skirts outside the house in summer and you’re at the point where you’re Just About Ready for Wax, you have to endure sandpaper legs.

Reason #3: It’s not cheap (about $60 a pop for bikini and legs, at least in NYC).

I should mention there were other reasons I hate waxing including wicked in-grown hairs, an accidental burning that turned into what seems to be a permanent dark spot and having to lay down half-naked several times a year and make small talk with a complete stranger while she rips the hair from my body.

And This is What Led Me To Become a Laser Hair Removal Guinea Pig

It for all the reasons listed above that I decided to research what I felt was my very last option for hair removal — laser hair removal. I wanted to know how much it hurt — my body AND my pocketbook. What were the chances the hair would grow back. Would it scar me or cause in-grown hairs and did it matter where I got it done (some places seemed much cheaper than others). I wanted to make sure I had an expert that was not just in training for one week like many, therefor I researched Karen and found her to have over 20 years of ACTUAL experience, and so many certifications and diplomas she can’t fit them all on the wall.

Here are 5 questions I asked and the answers.

How does high-tech hair removal work? There are a couple options, both of which rely on heated lights: Laser beam or intense pulsed light (IPL). Lasers are focused beams, whereas IPL uses interspersed flashes. While one visit will result in a lot of hair removal, it takes about 5 visits each one month apart to kill as much as 70% of the hair. Hair grows in cycles so you want to make sure you get as much of it as possible.

Is everyone a good candidate? Lasers work best on people with pale skin and dark hair (like me!), but these days there are even options for women with dark skin and light hair. Keep in mind dark skin may require 2-3 more sessions.

Are the results guaranteed? It’s impossible to predict how successful lasers will work on everyone. Results depend on the quality of the laser, the type of hair you have and the number of procedures you have done. Never trust a company that guarantees hair removal. I suggest you try to a consultation in person before you sign up.

How much does it cost? Depends. Laser hair removal isn’t cheap (about $200-$500 a session depending on where you live and the areas being treated. Again, it takes about 6 sessions to get rid of 70% of hair permanently. Touch-ups are always an option at about $100-$150 a session.

What about scarring? When I looked into getting this done for this article, the ex-editor of Glamour told me a ‘funny story’ about a writer (I think she referred to her as the magazine’s ‘guinea pig’) who got her entire body treated carpe diem. She ended up scarred for life. For this very reason, you want to skip the discount places and get treated by a trained technician such as Karen.

What about in-grown hairs? Because lasers kill the follicle, hair won’t grow back causing in-grown hairs you get with waxing (waxing damages the follicle, it doesn’t always kill it and hair can grow in on itself).

Now that I had all the information I needed, I decided to research facilities. The first place I found (which will remain nameless)offered discounts and when they found out I was a writer, they were eager to help me get rid of hair everywhere for free. Further investigation showed they had unsatisfied customers. There are several of these in this part of town, some of which you hear on the radio like 94.1 and 98.7 stations. These are full of poorly trained people, and I found Karen to most likely have more experience then all of these others combined.

I realized this was a medical procedure, therefore, I needed the very best, so I found out rather quickly that the very best high-tech hair removal place in Seminole, Florida is Karen Marlise, Master Beauty Technician (727-398-4187).

Permanent Hair Removal – Electrolysis

The best solution for removing all unwanted hair permanently is achieved by an experienced electrologist.

Electrolysis is one of two ways for permanent hair removal. Today, laser hair removal is also effective and in most cases permanently removes unwanted hair. To kill the hair root, a fine sterilized probe is inserted into the hair follicle, and then a tiny amount of electrical current is released. Then the hair follicle is permanently removed with small forceps. I also use a Gentronics Epilator- the state-of-the-art professional hair removal system using Blend, Flash, Thermolysis and Galvanic Multiple Needle.

Permanent Hair Removal Methods & Techniques Used by Electrologists

There are two variations of Thermolysis, “Manual” Thermolysis and “Flash” or “Automatic” Thermolysis. Flash Thermolysis uses a split second impulse of current, while Manual Thermolysis requires several seconds at a lower intensity to achieve permanency. The “Blend” method, combines both currents together in the same probe. Thermolysis enhances the action of the galvanic method to produce a faster process. I will select the best method for you based on your hair type, skin characteristics and sensitivity, which will assure you the greatest maximum comfort and permanency for your hair problem.

Permanent Hair Removal & Excess Hair Growth

There are many factors that can contribute to the growth of excess hair and can contribute to more electrolysis services required to keep the hair at bay. Heredity Normal physiological changes Malfunction of the endocrine system Medication Topical influences Stress

How effective is Electrolysis Treatments?

Many hairs will be eliminated with only one treatment, but some will need two or more treatments to achieve permanency. Electrolysis involves a series of treatments over a period of time. The length of time depends on the amount of hair, its coarseness, the cause of the excess hair and many other factors, but once the dermal papilla has been eliminated, the hair is dead and will not re-grow. Re-growth from treated follicles can occur if the root was not successfully destroyed the first time. (This usually happens when the area has been tweezed or waxed, causing follicle distortion.)

How safe is Electrology?

The Electrolysis procedure has been around for over 100 years. It is a safe and permanent procedure, if done by a trained professional. I have had extensive training and many years of experience with Electrology and have been doing this procedure since 1993.

Featured Electrology Equipment Used by Karen Marlise

Apilus – The Apilus offers a choice of eight operating modes to handle even the most difficult situation. Flash, thermolysis and thermocoagulation modes offer high frequency and precision thereby ensuring comfort and rapid execution. Pulsing Blend mode offers different application options for aesthetic care treatment. Apilus provides remarkably comfortable treatments.

Laser Light Ear Hair Removal

This page on laser light ear hair removal is being developed. More information will be added shortly. Everything method of hair removal has been tried, tested, attempted from depilatory creams to waxing and electrolysis. Electrolysis is the only other permanent hair removal solution to removing unwanted hair from the body but it is very time consuming for not only the practioner but also the client.

Today’s Solution for a Hair Free Body Is With Laser Light

Finally a fast, easy and painfree solution for hair removal has made it to the beauty industry market. Permanent Hair removal can take anywhere from 8 minutes to 30 minutes depending on the size of the area being treated. If numbing agents are needed for those who are extraordinarly sensitive you can add on an additional 20 minutes for the numbing agent to take effect. Otherwise laser light hair removal is fast, quick and easy and can easily be performed on your lunch hour and have you back to work on time.

Imagine No more shaving !!

No more embarassing hair bumps !!

No more embarassing ingrown hairs !!

No more nicks and cuts !!

And no more hair !!

Experience Counts

Like other anatomical areas, laser hair removal of the body is dependent on such factors as hair color, skin color, hair strand thickness and density. These factors will be evaluated by a professional laser hair removal specialist to help select the most appropriate laser system for each patient. Laser specialists with the most experience in the field of laser hair removal have the greatest potential for choosing the most appropriate laser or similar light source.

Laser Reduces or Eliminates Razor Bumps and Redness

Although hair removal is widely sought after, and effective, there are more than just aesthetic concerns when treating certain areas of the body. Common occurring folliculitis, inflammation and infection of the hair follicles can result in itchy and painful lesions, but fairly often secondary hyperpigmentation and darkening of the skin occur from the inflammation. Fortunately, the laser has been very helpful in reducing, or eliminating, hair growth and diminishing, or stopping, recurrent folliculitis. Not only does laser hair removal stop the folliculitis, and subsequent skin darkening, but some of these laser systems are beneficial in reducing hyperpigmentation, and persistent skin redness, which occurred from earlier episodes of folliculitis. This exciting secondary benefit to laser hair removal is very appreciated by the patient. Having a body free of unwanted hair, irritation, and discoloration, can be very desirable.

Laser Hair Removal is Highly Effective

Although other forms of hair removal–such as electrolysis, depilatory creams or waxing–can be used, each has its own limitations as to effectiveness and ease of use. In three to six treatments, bikini laser hair removal may accomplish a permanent reduction in the majority of pubic hair. The procedure is very rapid and well tolerated. Even the hair that remains is many times reduced in diameter, making them significantly less of a cosmetic issue while also reducing the irritation of the hair follicle. Overall, this procedure is commonly performed with high patient satisfaction. Remember lasers are medical devices that need a high level of expertise to be used safely. Laser Hair Removal Specialists increase not only effectiveness but also the safety of the procedure.

There is little to no pain when removing pubic hair from the bikini line with the Candela Laser and varies from person to person depending on their sensitivity. Some have described the sensation of laser hair removal to a slight sting on the skin. Others say it feels like a mild pinch on the skin. The number of laser treatments necessary to permanently remove unwanted hair varies depending on the size of the area to be treated. At least 2 or 3 treatments are necessary for the complete removal of unwanted pubic hair from the bikini line because hair is cyclic and while some hair is in the active growth stage and can be treated, other hairs are in the resting phase and must cycle back to the growth stage before the laser will be effective. Depending on the amount of active hair follicles at the time of treatment determines the number of treatments necessary to treat all of the hair. An absolute requirement is that the hair must be darker than the surrounding skin. White skin with dark hair responds best. Persons with dark, coarse hair are the easiest to treat as dark hair contains melanin, a dark pigment which attracts the laser light so more laser energy is absorbed. Therefore fewer sessions are needed. Light colored hair is more difficult to treat and blonde and red hair are very difficult to treat requiring multiple sessions with varied results. A special laser called the YAG Laser is used to remove unwanted hair on persons who have both dark hair and dark skin.

How Does Laser Hair Removal Work?

Laser hair removal works by sending a beam of laser light to a group of hair follicles with enough power to disable or destroy the root, but not enough power to harm the surrounding skin. This process is called selective photothermolysis. It is selective because it targets only the hair not the skin. (“Photo” means light and “thermolysis” means destroying with heat.) The surrounding skin is also simultaneously cooled with a cooling tip.

Important notice:

You should be aware many of the spas and dermatologists in Tampa, St. Petersburg, Clearwater, Palm Harbor, New Port Richey and other communities in the Tampa Bay area offer laser hair removal as a service but require you to purchase a package deal or hold you under contracts to return for other services you may not need or be interested in. This is generally the rule of thumb for these types of institutions but it is not necessary. I do not, nor will I ever, require my clients to purchase contract services or pressure sale them on services they do not need or want.

Laser Hair Removal is not 100% removal but, electrology is on any hair.

Electrology works on any color of hair.

How does Electrology Work?

Electrology is a thin sterile needle inserted into the hair follicule. It is slid down the follicule along the hair shaft. There is on poking on sticking the skin or follicule. The follicule will expand twice the thickness of the hair that lays in the follicule. That means if the hair thickness is .002 when, the needle is put in the follicule it well expand up to .004. It still takes a good electrologist to judge the length of each follicule and the fine touch to insert the needle exactly so, there isn’t any pain or breaking of the skin.

CUSTOMIZED BIKINI WAX VS EXTENDED BIKINI WAX

The customized bikini wax procedure varies among men and women and in several ways. The traditional bikini line wax treatment removes the hair that extends past the bikini line or your panty line but does not include the upper thigh area or any area inward from the bikini line. The extended bikini line hair removal includes hair removal from the bikini line and further inwards, more commonly known as the french bikini line. You can read more about the extended bikini line hair removal and the customized bikini wax services below.

CUSTOMIZED BIKINI WAX

The customized bikini wax is just what it says. The customized bikini wax includes hair removal from the bikini line but is then customized for your other hair removal problems or needs. For example, you might need your upper thighs waxed and want the extended bikini line as well. You may have hair on your bottom that needs to be waxed off too. The customized bikini wax service I provide also may include having the remaining pubic hair shaped in a geometrical design If you are looking for a cute design for the top portion of your pubic hair such as a diamond, a triangle or a rectangle then the customized bikini wax is what you need. This is really quite popular among the younger women and it is a waxing procedure that takes an expert waxer to achieve properly and symetically. If you have a particular design in mind we can discuss that during your free consultation. Generally, the customized bikini wax is for those women who have more hair that needs to be removed than the traditional bikini wax or — the extended bikini wax service that covers hair removal further inward of the genital area.

CUSTOMIZED BIKINI WAX FOR MEN

The customized bikini wax is also common among today’s new modern man. I have many male clients who request the customized waxing service to remove hair in their gential area just to keep them nicely groomed. It is becoming more and more fashionable for men to keep this area of their bodies groomed. Waxing is the fastest way to remove unwanted hair from any area of the body but there are permanent hair removal solutions available to you as well. These services take longer but in the end are well worth the time.

EXTENDED BIKINI WAX

The extended bikini wax service is also known as the French Bikini Line. Women who like to wear high cut bikinis or panties request the extended bikini waxing service. The extended bikini wax allows you the freedom to wear the sexy thongs panties and bikinis that are so popular today. When you come in for your waxing appointment to have the extended bikini wax you should wear a pair of french cut panties, your bathing suit, or a thong so I will know where to draw the line for your waxing procedure. For those of you who would like to be completely hair free then you would require the Brazilian Bikini Wax. If you have any questions that I have not addressed here please just give me a call and I will be happy to provide you more details you would like to know.

BIKINI WAXING – WHAT TO WEAR TO YOUR APPOINTMENT

The customized bikini wax and extended bikini wax service will require you to either wear a french style panty or none at all depending on the services you request. We can discuss this further during your consultation. For those of you who are very shy, I want to assure you I am a certified professional body wax expert with many years of experience in hair removal for both men and women and I have seen hundreds of men and women all with various hair problems. There is no hair problem you have that I have not already seen and helped relieve or cure for someone else. You will find my private salon is an exclusive salon and I take very good care of each of my clients making sure you are comfortable, relaxed and know that you are in the hands of a professional waxing specialist. The best aspect of seeing a specialist is when you come to see me – you only see me. Please take a moment to look at my client reviews for their thoughts about their experiences choosing me as their Aesthetic Specialist.

HOW TO PREPARE FOR YOUR WAXING APPOINTMENT

Before coming for your appointment your hair needs to be 1/4”-1/2” long, or at least 3 weeks of growth. If your hair is too short the wax will not be able grip the hair to pull it out. If your hair is too long, the hair will break and the service will be less comfortable and not as effective. It is very important to follow these instructions before having your bikini wax performed. I suggest either shaving three weeks before your appointment, or trimming your hair just prior to your appointment. Below you will find information about the professional body wax that I use and which makes waxing painfree.

BIKINI WAX EXPERT AFTER CARE

For the best results after having your bikini line waxed — apply a cool damp towel to the treated area, avoid sun, chlorine, steam, hot water, deodorant and scrubs for about 12 hours after waxing. Some redness, small spots or bumps are normal and should subside within a few hours.

WHAT TO EXPECT AFTER YOUR BIKINI WAX PROCEDURE

Providing any hair removal service using wax can be tricky and should always be performed by a certified waxing specialist. If you end up in the wrong hands or with someone who is not experienced the results can be disastrous. When body waxing is performed correctly – by a professional – it will leave you with a clean smooth surface that will last for weeks and eliminates the dreaded red razor bumps and irritations caused by shaving.

Pain Free Nufree™ Registered Waxing Salon

Nufree™completely uproots the entire bulb and hair shaft. It never dries and never sticks to your skin, so there is none of the pain, stretching or tearing of skin that waxes can cause.

When you use Nufree™, you can be free of unwanted hair for weeks. After your second Nufree™ treatment, you’ll never have ugly stubs or nubs again, because Nufree™ doesn’t break hairs the way shavers and waxes do. Nufree™ is safe for over 98% of the body. Now when you combine Nufree™ with antimicrobial finipil™, the scientifically approved, patent pending lotion, you can be assured that over 99.99% of bacteria is destroyed. If performed by a trained professional bikini waxing, brazilian waxing, face waxing, chest waxing, back waxing, leg waxing, underarm waxing and lip waxing is a safe and painless procedure. I have had extensive training in waxing techniques and have been doing this procedure since 1982. When I wax, you will not feel any pain. In the wrong person’s hands, pain, welts, and breaking the hair at the surface may result. I received 30 hours of training at Northern Beauty Supply (June 1989) on perfect waxing. It’s an art so you don’t break the hair at the skin surface and have ingrown hairs. Plus done by a pro it’s painless!
